The Montenegrin Orthodox Church held a liturgy on Ivanova korita, and the police stopped Metropolitan Mihailo

In the sermon held after the holy liturgy, the vicar bishop of the Montenegrin Orthodox Church, Boris, said that for the first time in so many years, the holy liturgy was served in the temple of the Holy Transfiguration on Ivanova korita (Eng. Ivan’s troughs). Addressing the gathered believers, he said that the priests of the Montenegrin orthodox church (MOC) served the evening liturgy last night, held the evening vigil and prayed all night for peace in Montenegro.

Let this be a shining example of how Montenegro is being transformed and how it will be transformed so that it is free and open for Montenegrins in every temple and in every church. May this bright holiday illuminate all of us, give us a lot of patience, love and strength to resist all that has come upon us. Injustice has started, we will overcome it with justice, hatred has started, we will overcome it with love, those who have forgotten God have came by calling on Him, and we will overcome that also with God’s help. May the holy transfiguration of our Lord Jesus Christ, St. Peter of Cetinje and St. Basil keep all of you and all of you at home. Let them give peace to Montenegro and prosperity. May Montenegro be eternal.

“Everyone is welcome at Njeguše” – says local resident Božo Bećir. He says he once he defended this church in the beginning, bare handed.

“Today, we are all here and those who love her, and those who do not (the church) – everyone is welcome. We are all very happy, locals from Dolovo, Njegus, Raicevic. It is ours but we have not adopted it or want it, it is open to every man of good will. We will continue in best practice an manners, showing who we are in Montenegro, especially Cetinje citizens, which is the core that we will surely preserve for all of us” – said Božo Bećir, a local, for RTV Cetinje.

Dragan Čavor says for RTV Cetinje that almost after twenty years, a holy liturgy was held today.

We can state with satisfaction that here was room for all believers, in this small church. So that the Montenegrin believers also had the right to attend the ceremony. We had a visit from the Metropolitanate of the Montenegrin Littoral Serbian Orthodox church with their representative Popović, whom we received warmly, greeted him and told him that this door is open to everyone and that when we finish the ceremony, they can hold their own and pray.

The police did not allow the RTV Cetinje team to enter the church and record the worship service. The police did not allow Metropolitan CPC Mihailo to pass towards Ivanova korita. The rally passed without incident.
